"Cherry Velvet" is a cut-flower rose bred by Jan Spek Rozen (Netherlands). It grows upright and vigorously to 80–120 cm tall, bearing cup-shaped blooms around 10 cm in diameter. The flowers are deep cherry red or purplish-red (darker in cool conditions), with a unique velvety texture, ruffled outer petals, and a tight "heart" effect. They have a light old rose fragrance with subtle lemon notes, last 7–10 days as cut flowers. It has good disease resistance (especially to powdery mildew and black spot) but average rain tolerance, with petals prone to browning in humid conditions.
